On May 19, the preliminary statistical results of powder coating industry data in 2020 released by the coating and coating professional committee of China Society of chemical industry and the national coating industry information center show that in 2020, the sales volume of powder coating of representative enterprises in China increased by 8.3% year-on-year, the sales revenue increased by 6.2% year-on-year, and the average price of powder coating decreased by about 231 yuan / ton year-on-year.

According to the comprehensive analysis of the sales of polyester resin, epoxy resin, additives, curing agent and NPG and the development of downstream industries, the sales volume of thermosetting powder coatings in China was about 2.12 million tons in 2020, an increase of 10.4% over the previous year. In addition to the sales of thermoplastic powder coatings of representative enterprises and the sales of thermosetting and thermoplastic powder coatings of enterprises below designated size, it is estimated that the total sales of powder coatings in China will exceed 2.4 million tons in 2020, with a year-on-year increase of 9.09%.


The data show that the sales volume of thermosetting powder coatings in China has shown a continuous growth trend in recent ten years. From 2010 to 2020, the sales volume of thermosetting powder coatings was 910000 tons, 1 million tons, 1045000 tons, 1115000 tons, 1.2 million tons, 1.29 million tons, 1.42 million tons, 1.605 million tons, 1.76 million tons, 1.92 million tons and 2.12 million tons respectively, with growth rates of 13.8%, 9.9%, 4.5%, 6.7%, 7.6%, 7.5%, 10.1%, 13%, 9.7%, 9.1% and 10.4% respectively. According to this growth rate, coupled with the sales volume of thermoplastic powder coatings of representative enterprises and the sales volume of thermosetting and thermoplastic powder coatings of enterprises below designated size, it is conservatively estimated that the total sales volume of powder coatings in China will exceed 2.2 million tons in 2019.


According to the data of precision research, the global powder coating market scale in 2019 is US $12.02 billion (about RMB 83.9 billion). It is expected that the annual compound growth rate from 2020 to 2027 will be about 6.1%. The global powder coating market scale is expected to exceed US $20.1 billion by 2027. In 2019, the market scale of China's powder coatings was 40.7 billion yuan (calculated by the average price of 18500 yuan / ton), accounting for about 49% of the global market share, and China is the world's largest producer and consumer of powder coatings.
